DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 1.             Prepare test plans/procedures and test reports for certification, qualification, or engineering tests. 2.             Serve as a technical liaison between internal personnel and off-site test laboratories. 3.             Support/manage both on-site and off-site structural, dynamic, environmental, lightning strike, and fire tests, as well as engineering analyses, inspections, and demonstration events. 4.             Perform standard and non-standard testing following safe laboratory practices. 5.             Assist in root cause problem solving activities using industry accepted methods, processes, and techniques. 6.             Document and analyze test data. 7.             Provide regular progress reports. 8.             Develop technical sketches or 3D CAD models to communicate test fixture design concepts. 9.             Prioritize daily work.
  1. Work to established project schedules and budget.
11.         Perform all assigned tasks in accordance with established company ISO 9001/AS 9100 procedures and work instructions. 12.         Complete other duties as directed by Management. 13.         Be a strong advocate for and actively foster cross-functional teamwork (concurrent engineering) within the company.  
EXPERIENCE
  1. Minimum of 3 years of hands-on engineering experience.
  2. Experience with instrumented quasi-static tension, compression, and fatigue mechanical testing, and safe laboratory practices.
  3. Experience with the preparation and maintenance of documentation required for testing, and the summarizing of data and performing engineering analyses.
  4. Experience in performing standard and non-standard mechanical testing.
  5. Experience with aerospace and industry specifications/standards such as RTCA/DO-160, MIL-STD-810, AC20-135, ISO 2685, FAR25, etc.
  6. Experience in designing unique test fixtures.
  7. Experience with the operation of universal mechanical test equipment (electromechanical and servo-hydraulic, environmental chambers, etc.) is a plus.
  8. Hands-on experience in the maintenance of laboratory equipment is a plus.
  9. Military or FAA certification experience is a plus.
 
 
EDUCATION
Must have a BS in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
 
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  1. Must have demonstrated in-depth, professional knowledge of engineering principles.
  2. Extensive problem solving, critical thinking, and creativity skills are essential.
  3. Must be highly self-motivated, results-oriented, possess the ability to work without supervision, and be a committed team player.
  4. Must have knowledge of basic materials science and knowledge of mechanical testing and characterization, testing methods, and procedures.
  5. Must be very detail oriented with solid organizational skills.
  6. Must have advanced computer skills, including experience with MS Office products and 3D CAD/ CAE.  Knowledge of SolidWorks is preferred.
  7. Must have the ability to work in office and on-site/off-site test laboratory (indoor and/or outdoor) environments.
  8. Must have the ability to manage multiple projects, and produce consistent, accurate, and timely work.
  9. Must have the ability to work independently, exercising good technical judgment, and interpersonal skills to work as a member of a team.
  10. Must have the ability to adequately communicate technical content, analyze multi-faceted problems, and be able to work well both self-directed and within a team.
  11. Must have excellent oral and written communications skills.
  12. Must have a strong understanding of engineering fundamentals.
