Our Client is searching for an outstanding Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to work in the Pasadena, CA branch in the Space Infrastructure division. Here in Pasadena, we build the most advanced robotic systems for spaceflight and planetary exploration applications. We hold the distinction of being able to claim the design of all robotic arms currently operating on Mars. In addition, our Client provides innovative spaceflight hardware for satellite systems, the technology for which is designed to allow for on-orbit servicing, refueling, and assembly of spacecraft. * With expanded scope on the SHA program the work will continue past the previously predicted time so resources haven't been able to role off to support the DragonFly program.
o The design of highly technical precision spaceflight mechanisms from conceptualization to delivery
o Collaborate with/mentor other junior engineers on a project team
o As needed, create qualification and/or development test programs to validate new technology or new and novel mechanism designs.
o Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to develop and agree on program technical requirements. Present designs to internal and external stakeholders in PDR/CDR level reviews, as well as ongoing technical discussions.
o Create designs in CAD software from first principles, create and manage the release of detailed engineering drawings, and assembly and test documentation.
o Work closely with other functional groups during drawing release and manufacture, including manufacturing engineering, procurement, and assembly technicians.
o Responsible for providing disposition for non-conformances created throughout the course of manufacturing and assembly
