Ability to design machining strategy for manufacturing metal parts on a multi axis approach
  • Multi Axis Approach – THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT. An engineer who has experience developing a machining strategy using this approach.
  • Parts/materials experience is also important – someone who has experience manufacturing precision parts with complex features and tight tolerances that are metal. No composites, plastics, rubber, etc. Must be metal, steel, Incontel, titanium, etc.
  • Experience in general is important – proven track record of implementing manufacturing strategy at previous employers / contracts.
  • US Person – must be able to see blue prints that are regulated by export controls such as ITAR / EAR.
Machining strategy means experience developing steps to manufacture a part with customer provided blue print with an approach that minimizes steps, set ups, & clamping
Mill Turn experience should be at least 5 axis
Experience with live active tooling
3 Dimensional  
Mill/Turn machine doesn’t have to be a WFL… Mori Seiki is OK – Models include Mori 603 or Mazak 600 or 300 series
Fanuc Knowledge / language is OK, Siemens is preferred programming language
Aerospace knowledge a plus
Proven expereince with similar parts - shape/size
 
CAD/CAM software here at Pankl: Siemens NX, Top Solid Cam software
Current Machine Capabilities: Multi Axis CNC Lathes, CNC Mills, Mori Seiki Machines and Mazak – uses Mazatrol, CNC Grinders, Trepan, Honing (Vertical and horizontal), Hobber that is used for threading and splines, Schenck Balancer machine used as well
