The focus of this position is to develop competencies within this aerospace company's R&D Team regarding all aspects of calculation, analysis and computerized simulation of mechanical loads, stresses and strains related to aerospace fasteners. This encompasses evaluation, analysis, validation and optimization of legacy andnew product definition and improving fasteners manufacturing processes through calculation and software simulation.

  • Define the proper model for the studies (geometry, meshing, material behavior modeling, boundary conditions) and perform computerized analysis of this model.
  • Define, follow up and analyze results of testing programs in order to correlate or adjust the model.
  • Improve and develop new simulation methodologies and participate to the development effort of numerical simulation within the group and managing any related Research and Development projects.
  • Provide guidance for optimization of product designs to better meet their performance requirements.
  • Prepare and present project status and other related reports.
  • Prepare technical notes related to product definition justification.
  • Provide support to the plants during manufacturing processes development and new product industrialization
  • Participate in development of company product standards and technical specifications and other related documents.
  • Manage projects of product optimization by stress analysis and software simulation in relationship with internal or external customers
  • Contribute to the development of corporate simulation databases (material models, tooling, modeling types…)
  • Participate in the development of R&D Lab, selection, acquisition, installation, maintaining and operation of related Lab equipment and software.
  • Identify, evaluate and implement new stress analysis/simulation techniques and methods to improve design efficiency.
  • Develop training materials related to the field of expertise and conduct necessary training for R&D and other related personnel.
  • Promote creativity within the department.
  • Responsible for complying with the rules and regulations set forth by Federal, Local, and State government, the Company, and HSE Procedures.
  • Responsible for attending all training provided and for adhering to all HSE procedures, policies, and plans, conforming to reporting requirements, and safe operating procedures at all times.

Technical Skills - Expertise in computer modeling and finite element analysis and calculation. Proficiency in applying advanced mathematical concepts to analyze and optimize mechanical and thermo-mechanical stresses of metallic and plastic materials. Solid knowledge of mechanical and design engineering is required. Proficiency in non-linear simulation software packages (DEFORM or FORGE preferred) and Computer Aided Design software (SolidWorks preferred). Proficiency in using data base software such as MS Access and knowledge of basic programming, such as MS Visual Basic for Applications.

Mathematical Skills                                                  
Working knowledge of statistics and advance levels of calculus/differentials equations.
Computer Skills                                            
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have strong knowledge of Internet software; Spreadsheet, Presentation, ProjectPlanning and Word Processing software.

Certificates, licenses, registrations
      Evidence of “US person” is required under ITAR 
Education and/or Experience
  • Minimum of Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with emphasis in software simulation or related disciplines is required
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in stress calculation and software stress simulation is required
  • Basic knowledge of Metallurgy is required
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical design principles is required
  • Manufacturing process knowledge related to metal working processes such as forging or stamping – experience within an industrial environment.
  • Verbal and written communication skills with a practical reasoning abilities are a must
  • Project management skills and experience required; focus on objectives completion in a timely manner, working in multi-functional team, philosophy based on results and documented analysis and decisions, simple and comprehensive reporting to management.
