Job Description

Are you interested in taking your career to outer space?  We are seeking a Reliability Engineer to
assist an innovative team at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory to perform engineering on spacecraft
systems or subsystems.
 
  • Develop, coordinate and conduct technical reliability studies and evaluations of engineering design concepts and continues this through the design development.
  • Recommend design or test methods and statistical process control procedures for achieving required levels of product reliability.
  • Compile and analyzes performance reports and process control statistics; investigate and analyze relevant variables potentially affecting product and processes. From this data, calculate probabilities of mission or subsystem success.
  • Ensure that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards.
  • Analyze preliminary plans and develop reliability engineering programs to achieve customer and governmental agency reliability objectives.
  • May develop mathematical models to identify units, batches or processes posing excessive failure risks.
  • As necessary, proposes changes in design or formulation to improve system and/or process reliability.
  • May determine units and/or batches requiring environmental testing, and specify minimum number of samples to obtain statistically valid data.
Typical duties:
  • Prepare product reliability plans
  • Establish requirements for and monitor reliability programs
  • Develop reliability trade-off studies
  • Perform or review reliability analyses
  • Assess performance with respect to requirements
  • Evaluate effectiveness of the failure reporting, analysis, and corrective action implementation
  • Prepare reports; support logistic activities and reporting; support system and design teams
  • Establish reliability models and utilize models for systems and subsystems analysis

Job Requirements

Qualified candidates MUST have:

  • Active Top Secret/SCI Clearance
  • BS Degree in STEM related area.  MS Degree preferred
  • Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Physics, or an equivalent field, and experience in electronic systems reliability activities.
  • Experience in electronic systems reliability activities. Experience must include digital, analog, or RF design and analysis, such as Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Worst Case Analysis (WCA), Electronic Parts Stress Analysis (PSA), Single-Events Effects Analysis (SEEA), reliability assessment, modeling, prediction trade off studies, system evaluations; failure reporting, analysis, and corrective action; use of computer aided engineering tools.
  • Experience in electronic systems reliability activities. Experience must include digital, analog, or RF design and analysis, such as Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Worst Case Analysis (WCA), Electronic Parts Stress Analysis (PSA), Single-Events Effects Analysis (SEEA), reliability assessment, modeling, prediction trade off studies, system evaluations; failure reporting, analysis, and corrective action; use of computer aided engineering tools.
