Position summary:
Assists with Engineering design development by working on CAD system to design and draft functional components.
 
Essential Functions:
  • Generate low-level detail and complex top level assembly drawings in accordance with industrial drafting standards and best practices.
  • Perform drawing changes following ARA change process, which includes creating Drawing Change Request, Drawing Change Notice, and other customer-required documentation.
  • Has a good working knowledge of common mechanical and electro-mechanical components such as fittings, valves, sheet metals, solenoids, PCB, wire harness assemblies, and sensors.
  • Makes a tolerance analysis of moderately complex mechanisms through understanding of geometric and conventional tolerancing.
  • Makes calculations, as necessary, in completing assignments using algebra and trigonometry.
  • Redesigns existing hardware for improved performance, which may involve testing to confirm re-design.
  • Assists and instructs personnel in lower classifications.
  • Investigates and helps select new components and vendors
  • Develops BOM’s and Assembly hierarchy
  • Creates and Modifies design features of existing product
  • Design’s and conceptualizes components and assemblies for new development
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
Role Qualifications:
Skills, Abilities, and Other Requirements:
Good math aptitude, including courses in algebra and trigonometry.  Ability to understand verbal and written instructions.  Work independently with minimum supervision. Familiar with manufacturing methodologies and concept of design for assembly. Experience in aerospace industry is essential. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and to manage multiple assignments based on priorities
 
 
Education and Experience:
Minimum of five years of drafting experience.  Thorough knowledge of mechanical and electro-mechanical components such as gears, bearings, actuators, wirings, schematics, controls, etc. High school graduate with a minimum of one to two years college work in Engineering or specialized course in drafting or designing.  Proficiency in SolidWorks required.
