The Trade Compliance Improvement Program is seeking a Project Manager to join the small core program team for an initial period of 8 months. This may be extended past 8 months depending on performance and need. The purpose of the Trade Compliance Improvement Program is to implement a wide variety of tools, processes, and procedures to enhance the company's internal Trade Compliance Systems.

The Project Manager will work alongside a number of other Project Managers, with guidance from the Program Manager, delivering a range of projects designed to improve Trade Compliance Systems. The projects include both IT applications projects and infrastructure projects. The project teams will be built from a mix of full time staff and 3rd party staff.

While experience with Trade Compliance Systems projects and US export regulations is an advantage, it is not a necessity for this role.

The majority of the work to be performed will take place in Elma, NY. Some travel (approximately 10%) may be required to support testing, training, and system rollout activities at various sites within the US.


To provide management and direction for projects and programs, ensuring that customer expectations and business value are delivered as per the business case. A PM provides an advanced level of project management practices and acts as a subject matter expert to all stakeholders associated with a project, helping understanding of the benefits of those practices and how they can be achieved.


  • The delivery of large, complex IT-solution focused projects in support of planned business value benefits.
    The management of customer expectations of projects, in areas of schedule, costs, quality, scope, risk and benefits.
  • The efficient utilization of company resources in support of strategic business initiatives through planning and time management activities.
  • Applying learning and experience to all but the most difficult business and technical challenges requiring project management expertise, by use of advanced problem solving and people management skills.
  • Provision of effective liaison between Moog and external vendors.

    Key challenges include:

    The IT environment at the company is complex and the PM must be able to quickly assimilate necessary knowledge of a particular system or process with which they may not be familiar.
    Some of the processes and systems within scope of the role have impacts across global locations and the role must deal with global cultural, regulatory, and process differences. Must have ability to work on virtual teams.
    Due to the different customers and markets in which Operating Groups typically operate, development of Enterprise-wide solutions which satisfy the distinct needs of each Operating Group can be a challenge.

    Typically a four year Bachelor of Science (BS) college degree and a Masters degree in either a technical or business discipline. A PM will also typically have a formal project management certification from a professional body. A PM will generally have a minimum of six (6) years of Progressive Experience in project management. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills coupled with the ability to listen, question and understand end users needs.

  • This person will be running IT related projects, specifically Trade Compliance. This person will work on improving the hardware program, they will need to evaluate the software packages then decide on the best solution. Sell, the best solution to all business units then implement the solution.
  • It would be best if this person has previous IT Project Leader experience.
  • f this person has Trade Compliance Regulation experience that is a huge plus
  • Other preferred experience are ERP or logistics background
