We are seeking a Finance Manager for our client's operations in Los Angeles.  This is a direct hire opportunity offering a competitive salary range dependent on experience. The Finance Manager is responsible for supervising, monitoring and evaluating all day-to-day accounting activities, including month-end close, year-end close, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation, inventory accounting, and the support of budgeting and forecast activities. Qualified candidate will have previous experience in a manufacturing setting including: regular direct interaction with operations personnel, inventory and cost accounting. The Finance Manager will be a critical member of the Plant Leadership team which requires strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal, and will report directly to the corporate CFO.
 
Responsibilities:
- Ensure an accurate and timely monthly and year-end close
- Refine and maintain constant visibility of operating metrics including labor and throughput data to ensure proper visibility is available to operational leaders
- Design and prepare reporting that facilitates labor analysis and spending identification and improvement
- Support both operations and finance with work-flow process improvements
- Directly influence setting goals and action plans to improve plant profitability and department efficiency
- Lead the financial forecasting with the facility management that accounts for improvement initiatives, one-time charges/benefits and
- Lead month and year-end close, general ledger, inventory, revenue and expenditure variance analysis, fixed asset activity, debt activity, and financial reporting
- Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy
- Respond to inquiries from the CFO, General Manager and department managers regarding financial results, special reporting requests and other ad hoc requests
- Work with the Corporate Controller to ensure a clean and timely year-end audit and tax return preparation
- Supervise AR activities
- Provide training to new and existing staff as needed
- Supervise plant physical inventories to assure an accurate inventory count and valuation and then reconcile the physical inventory to the general ledger, monthly
- Take an active lead in reducing the Plant’s overall exposure to potential waste
- Review/Preparation of monthly journal entries, reconciliation of accounts and assist in all plant general ledger activities
- Utilize Process Gross Margin analysis and identify pricing improvements
Requirements:
- BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting
- CPA a plus but not required
- Technical Skills and Prior Experience in Accounting
- Ideally, more than 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- Must be PC proficient, with Strong Microsoft Excel® and PowerPoint®skills
- Experience with ERP systems is a plus
