General Summary

Under minimum supervision, the Engineering Technical Writer researches, develops,
produces, and sustains Technical Publication products. Under the direction of
engineering support resources, the Technical Writer verifies and validates
engineering documentation. At the discretion of and under the direction of engineering
support resources, the Technical Writer modifies engineering documentation
to reflect “As-Is” equipment configurations. Source Material used by and data output
from Technical Writer can include both paper and electronic forms of media.
The Technical Writer possess technical and/or engineering documentation
experience, organizational skills, and a combination of technical training/education and
general working level knowledge of industrial type of equipment systems to include
systems, subsystems, and components.

Develops, verifies, and validates all Technical Publications data elements. May be
required to develop Technical Publication data elements with little to no source material
or support from Subject Matter Expert(s) (SME). Identify technical and engineering
source data inaccuracies and takes corrective action(s).

Primary Responsibilities

  • Education and/or work experience in one of following fields:
    • Engineer (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, Process, etc)
    • Technical Writer in manufacturing environment
    • Production Planner with work order instruction creation experience
  • Experience with writing/updating manufacturing plans, bills of materials and item masters
  • Identifies required Technical Publication data element changes to reflect equipment modifications
  • Supports the planning and implementation of new Technical Publication products supporting new equipment/system acquisitions
  • Plans and conducts formalized reviews of completed publication and engineering elements
  • Develop, maintain, update master specification for the Engineering Department
  • Lead the adoption and continued improvement in definition, development, and maintenance of standard practices
    • Schedule and manage specification writing workload to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
    • Other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field
  • 3 years working as an Engineer, Planner or Technical Writer in a manufacturing environment
  • Analytical skills with high problem solving and process improvement orientation
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States
