Responsibilities include planning, coordinating, executing and reporting on engine calibrations, engine systems or other powertrain systems as required. Collect data from testing on dynamometers, test rigs, and any other external test facilities and/or at the race track. Subsequent analysis and reporting is required. Experience with Matlab, Atlas, and AVL software preferred and with Bosch, PI/Cosworth, Motec a plus. Development may include performance, drivability and/or reliability of engines, engine systems and/or powertrain components per project goals. Must complete writing of test requests, daily progress, test reports and a concise presentation of testing results, analysis, conclusions and suggestions for future development as needed. Must be able to execute tests first-hand, able to (post-) process raw data and present final results to technical reviews. Post processing experience with engine controls system such as Simulink is preferred.
Requirements include Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with a solid understanding of internal combustion engines; 3-5 years minimum experience with development and testing of racing engine or chassis components.
Previous dynamometer testing of high performance race engines including setup and maintenance; technical report writing. Previous experience with AVL Puma, MTS/Adapt, Pi Toolbox or Wintax software a plus.
Must have the ability to plan, organize, schedule and coordinate activities for self-based on an evaluation of work needs and an estimation of timing and create efficient test procedures, specifying the necessary data acquisition and analyze the results to reach an accurate conclusion and present suggestions for follow-up work. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work in team environment and able to work under minimal supervision; ability to be self-directed, detailed oriented who can effectively work well under pressure in a diverse environment. Willingness to be hands on in a fast pace environment.
