Job Description

Proficiency in CAD software, and experience with PTC Creo Parametric 2/3, especially with detail and assembly drawings.
2. Practical understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5-2009)
3. Ability to work efficiently in a multi-disciplined engineering team with minimal supervision. Worker will be joining a multi-disciplined engineering and operations team with typically 4 to 8 members.

** Position is part of the Space Component Division, which specializes in deployable systems for spacecraft such as solar arrays, instrument booms, and various extendible support structures. As a CAD Mechanical Design Drafter will be responsible for creating drawings for deployable structures and mechanical actuators at the cutting edge of space technology. Will have ownership of work from drawing conception through drawing release for manufacturing.
• Generate CAD detail and assembly drawings and related documents
• Drawing checking
• Generate Engineering Change Order (ECO)
• Standard Parts Librarian for purchased parts used in designs and drawings
• Generate 3D CAD models as needed
• Manage and track multiple priorities while maintaining a focus towards common project goals of the program team, matrix organization, and customers

Job Requirements

Associate’s degree
• 5 years of applicable experience in mechanical drafting
• Strong communication skills, oral and written
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment and adapt to change
• Ability to multitask and organize/prioritize job assignments in a fast-paced and gated-release engineering development environment
• Self-motivated
• Ability to regularly work on site in Goleta, CA
• Bachelor’s degree
• Proficiency with mechanical computer aided design (CAD) software, preferably experience with PTC Creo Parametric 2/3
• Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software, preferably PTC Windchill, for review and release of CAD models and drawings
• Practical understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5-2009)
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint…)
