CNC Programmer – Job Description & Summary
  • Provide input on how to improve current machining processes
  • Develop, modify and improve machining processes
  • Develop Tooling and Fixture Design
  • Provide consultation on tooling
  • Create CNC programs for complex tight tolerance machining of aerospace components produced from various types of metals and alloys
  • Review and optimize existing programs to increase speed and quality of product
  • Help in creating new CNC programs to support reverse engineering efforts
  • Education consists of BS degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering and/or years of related Experience
  • Minimum 7 to 10 years hands-on CNC programming experience in metal machining industry (aerospace background preferred)
  • Must be proficient in CAM tool path generation and machine code generation using Mastercam, Top Solid a plus
  • Must have strong manufacturing / machining background including machine set-up, work piece holding, tooling and cutter selection
  • Must be proficient in interpretation of blueprints and drawings, pay attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Have a thorough understanding of set-up and operating procedure for machining and metal finishing equipment
  • Strong GD&T and ability to plan CNC machining process
  • Must be efficient in programming multi axis milling and lathes machines
  • Programming of Multi Axis Mill/Turn machines or WFL mill turn machines is a plus
  • Must be proficient in Fanuc Controls – Siemens controls a plus
  • Ability to learn new processes and new machinery quickly
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Must be able to communicate well internally with engineers and machinists
  • Must have experience with CNC machining centers, milling and lathe machines
  • Experience with flight safety and frozen planning requirements a plus
