We are recruiting for top level CFD/Aerothermal Analysis engineers to work in the space capital of the USA, Huntsville, AL.
Working under minimal direction:
80% - Perform aerothermal and fluids modelling and analysis of solid rocket motors and hardware components using in-house and non-proprietary Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), heat transfer, and thermal ablation analysis tools such as Fluent and CFD++, various meshing tools, and classic aerothermal tools such as ACE, gasket, and CMA.
Thermal analysis will include the assessment of thermal ablation of the SRM insulators as well as prediction of hardware temperatures. Thermal analysis duties include test support for pre and post test analysis of static fired motors for test conditions and model validation.
The successful candidate will support multiple programs across the enterprise performing complex analyses using advanced aerothermodynamic and fluid dynamic tools. Typical responsibilities involve CFD analysis of the solid rocket motor combustion field, modelling heat transfer from the combustion gases to propellant grain, nozzles, and other structures, and providing temperature predictions throughout the motor structures.
The successful candidate will support multiple programs across the enterprise performing complex analyses using advanced aerothermodynamic and fluid dynamic tools.
10% - Produce CFD and thermal analysis reports and test reports. Make presentation of analysis results to both internal and external customers. Provide technical guidance to junior analysts.
10% - Support verification tests of propulsion systems and components.
