Job Overview (General)
  • Work closely with the Project Manager, implementation team and key stakeholders to understand requirements for software installation, software limitations, IT technical specifications, hardware, architecture and testing of the applications.
  •  Support and maintain Company software products & solutions, working closely with Company Software Engineers and Customer’s System/Application administrators.  Tasks include: troubleshooting; installing, removing, upgrading and performance optimization of software/licenses; assisting in the successful deployment and ongoing operations of Company products/solutions on both internal and customer networks.
  •  Provide technical (Level 2/Level 3) support for applications. Support the Company or customer’s analyst in troubleshooting both application and business process issues preventing successful operation of the Company Software/Solutions.
  •  Troubleshoot ancillary (non-proprietary) software & applications; network; and hardware due to issues preventing execution, optimal performance, connections, security, etc. of Company products/solutions on internal and customer premise.
  •  Expectation is to grow into a subject matter expert (SME) on installing, upgrading and troubleshooting Company products/solutions.  Including understanding compatibility issues with ancillary interfacing applications and network.
  •  Work closely with Company Product Development & Quality Assurance departments across the globe to both understand existing installation/upgrade processes & best practices; and future direction of products in terms of compatibility and impact across a network. 
 
 Job Description (Detail)
  • Support Project Managers to
    • Monitor application performance, troubleshoot issues & outages of Company software/solutions on premise or virtual on customer servers.
    • Performance tune Company software products
    • Troubleshoot ancillary (non-proprietary) software & applications; network; and hardware due to issues preventing execution, optimal performance, connections, security, etc. of Company products/solutions on internal and customer premise.
    • Acquire various debug/applicable log files from databases, Company products, application servers, etc. etc.
    • Perform Company software product Fresh installations and/or upgrades
    • Assist in troubleshooting network servers, routers, firewalls, monitoring tools and technology tools in terms of their impact to the in support of Company products and solutions.
    • Work closely with both Company and customer System Administrators for smooth installations, upgrades and issue resolution involving Company software products.
  • Ensure Company software application security is enforced for both software and solution.
  •  Build an internal knowledge capture (within Microsoft Team Channel) with technical documentation, manuals and lessons learned regarding Company products and solutions.
  •  Submitting PD tickets for enhancements or bugs, along with timely follow-up until resolution.
  •  Plan, coordinate, test, and communicate changes, upgrades/maintenance schedules,     and new services with Company and clients, ensuring business operations will operate correctly in current and future environments. 
  •  Set up administrator and service accounts of applications.
  • Work closely with Company and Customer Office on Audits and Analysis to ensure appropriate controls and audit logs are in place
  • Work closely with various Company Product Development (PD) & Quality Assurance (QA) departments keeping abreast of both latest installation tips/tricks, deployment procedures, compatibility and product technologies.
  • Develop test plans to verify logic of new or modified applications
  • Other duties may include scripting or light programming using JAVA or JavaScript

Hard Skills (Required):
  • Exposure to System Administrator, Network Administrator or similar role
  • Exposure to UNIX
  • Exposure to Microsoft Exchange Server
  • Exposure to firewalls
  • Exposure to concepts of networks (VLAN, LAN, WAN, VPN)
  • Knowledge of DHCP / DNS Servers, TCP/IP
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems and LINUX
  • Knowledge of Base Linux User/File Permissions, and software installations via RPM
  • Knowledge of system security (e.g. Single-sign-on, Kerberos) Experience in process automation, best practice approach, technology efficiency, and effectiveness
  • Hands-on experience installing, configuring, tuning & optimizing Oracle enterprise level databases.
  • Hands-on experience installing enterprise level applications on servers
  • Hands on experience configuring and monitoring network and application load balancers.
  • Hands-on experience with database backup/recovery
  • Hands-on experience with patch management
  • Hands on experience extracting and reading log files
  • Hands on experience with VMWare and proper use of data recovery standards & tools .
  • Hands on experience with the creation of basic installation steps & summaries.
  • Hands on experience with Troubleshooting issues that may arise with Java web servers (e.g.: JBoss, Websphere, etc.)
  • Hands on experience Configuring/Installing the following:
    • Single-sign-on ( SSO)
    • Ability to create scripts in JavaScript & JAVA or other language
    • Review trends in applications to identify discrepancies
    • Experience with Application Servers such as:
      • Jboss
      • WebSphere
      • Tomcat
      • WebLogic
    • E.g.
      • Making a service / Application deployment
      • Configuration changes in standalone.xml 
      • Steps related to setting up a new instance
      • Configuring JAVA options
      • Garbage collection
      • Troubleshooting
    • License servers
    • DB password changes
    • JAVA
    • SSL Certificates / HTTPS services
 
Preferred Qualifications (Major Plus)
  • Hands on experience installing Oracle Database (major plus)
  • Hands on experience & knowledge Configuring and/or Using Teamcenter (major plus)
  • Hands on experience & knowledge Configuring SAP (major plus)
  • Hands on experience & knowledge Configuring ENOVIA (major plus)
  • Hands on experience & knowledge Configuring PTC PLM (major plus)
  • Hands on experience & knowledge with other Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) & Product Data Management (PDM), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Manufacturing Execution systems (MES), Maintenance-Repair-Overhaul (MRO) systems (major plus)
  • Troubleshooting knowledge in the following areas or with the following products
    • Servers: Windows Server, SuSE Linux Enterprise Server
  • Hands on experience configuring Apache
  • Knowledge of Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012 R2, SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 and 12, Red Hat Enterprise Server 6.4, 7
  • Familiarity with localization
