Senior Structural Design Engineer to own the launch vehicle product CAD for the Structures group. The ideal candidate is an experienced NX designer with strong mechanical design competencies. They will provide conceptual mechanical and structural designs, manage large assemblies, and be very comfortable in managing the Teamcenter PLM system. The ideal candidate will also have a strong manufacturing background, capable of providing guidance on tooling approaches at the individual part level as well as for the full vehicle integration. This role is for a hands-on person with great attention to detail and excellent people skills.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Manage the higher level Structures assemblies and create the assembly drawings
  • Act as interface control between the launch vehicle Structures and the various other groups (e.G., Propulsion, and Avionics)
  • Define the tolerancing approach for the vehicle integration
  • Training Help guide the modeling and drawing best practices for the Structures team, including design for manufacturing

  • Bachelor s degree in Engineering or related discipline
  • 5+ years of engineering/design experience
  • 5+ years NX/Teamcenter experience
  • Expert drafting skills
  • Expert skills in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Knowledge of the design, analysis, fabrication, and test of composite and metallic structures
  • Eagerness to learn as well as teach
  • Strong team player
  • Strong safety focus
  • Strong work ethic and a self-starter
  • Must be a U.S. person as defined by the ITAR (22 CFR 120.15)

    Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Experience in low cost commercial space system ventures
  • Experience with air launched space launch vehicles
