Position summary:
Responsible for the development and implementation of assigned engineering projects. Individual will direct the detail design, testing, and development of mechanical devices, electromechanical mechanisms, hydraulic and pneumatic systems as used on commercial and military aviation equipment. Responsibilities include coordinating and planning the tasks of a team of design engineers from concept through successful qualification of specific products.

Essential Functions:
  • Develop and qualify new product designs to specification.
  • Find unique solutions to challenging mechanical, electromechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic problems
  • Interface directly with the customer to establish requirements and performance criteria
  • Ensure that products produced meet all specification and aviation standard requirements.
  • Provide technical direction and support to development team.
  • Size components and analyze performance using advanced engineering techniques.
  • Demonstrate specification compliance through laboratory testing.
  • Act as vendor technical liaison with regard to purchased components.
  • Generate development, qualification, and acceptance test procedures and analyze results.
  • Provide customer service technical support.
  • Field technical calls with regard to responsible product lines.
  • Participate in field calls in connection with field tests, service applications, customer problems, etc.
  • Provide technical support at sales meetings and conventions as assigned.

  • Role Qualifications:
    Skills, Abilities, and Other Requirements:
    Basic engineering analytical skills in the areas of machine design, dynamics of mechanical systems, and fluid mechanics.
    Understanding of detail drawing standards and geometric tolerancing. CAD operating skills.

    Education and Experience:
    A BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline is required, MS Degree preferred.
    Minimum 10 years in a related engineering field.
    Proven record of directing development projects as a Project Engineer.
    Exposure to manufacturing processes such as die casting, sand casting, machined parts, and plastic injection molding are a plus.
