Generation of the annual Sales and Marketing plan and management and supervision of all sales and marketing activities leading to successful achievement of all goals and objectives outlined therein. Coordination and development of all sales, marketing, and promotional efforts on the company product lines, and adherence to budgetary restraints as outlined in monthly sales strategy meetings.


  • Develop and implement the Sales and Marketing annual business plan designed to meet the goals and objectives established by the President.

  • Develop and implement the Sales and Marketing budget proposal for review and approval. The proposal is to include staffing requirements, promotional and advertising expenses, commissions to field sales representation, communications equipment, and other related expense items required to adequately meet annual profit goals.

  • Identify major markets that can be effectively penetrated utilizing the established company resources and technical expertise.

  • Identify additional markets that can be effectively penetrated through the expansion of company resources and technical expertise.

  • Continually monitor the performance of all direct staff and outside sales representatives to assure their activities remain focused on meeting the established business plan.

  • Review and update sales department policies and procedures as required to promote continuous improvement in knowledge and efficiency.

  • Remain cognizant of competitive strategies and generate counter-strategies to offset any threat to meeting forecasted sales plan.

    Acquire an intimate knowledge of the company s products, particularly in how they meet the needs of the served available market

  • Formally meet with all department heads at least once a month to resolve problem areas that threaten achievement of plan goals and objectives. Submit a summary of the meeting to the President within one week.

  • Based on inputs from the field, submit a quarterly report to the President on product improvements to deal with competitive threats to the Company s competitive position in the marketplace.

  • Give quarterly reports to the President and Department Heads on the status of major programs being currently served by the company.

  • Schedule a minimum of quarterly visits, along with a member of the Sales Staff, to the territories for purposes of coaching, training, and motivating Reps as well as making goodwill visits to major customers, particularly those exhibiting problems. Travel must be within budget constraints and may be curtailed due to economic circumstances. Travel trip reports are to be submitted to the President within one week of return from travel.

  • Review performance of direct staff as well as Reps and report results to the President every six months.

  • Report to the President any success or failure of ISO auditing in Sales.

  • Report to the President on a bi-weekly basis the continuous improvement training and procedures that need to be developed or that have been developed.

  • Provide the President with a monthly report of departmental expenses Vs budget.

  • Assure that all customer complaints are resolved to their satisfaction within ten working days. Keep log of complaints, resolution and the number of days it took to resolve the matter for review by the President.

  • Keep the customer service group highly motivated with monthly coaching and training sessions, stressing the need to keep the customer informed with accurate updates on order and repair status. Emphasize the importance of calling the customer on critical items before he calls us.

  • Maintain a neat, clean, and well-organized sales department area maintained as a highly professional marketing office.

  • May be required to perform other related and unrelated tasks as requested by management.

  • Keep upgrading the performance of direct staff and field sales with periodic coaching, training, and motivational seminars.

  • Keep the President informed on the status of sales performance and achievements with reference to the business plan.

  • Co-ordinate the decision making regarding major new orders with the President and the Controller prior to customer commitments. Ensures that the parties are involved in a review of the potential cost, pricing and potential profit of new or repeat sales transactions.

  • Assure that customer service has the highest priority and is rated as a major strength of the company.

  • Oversee design and layout of all sales/advertising literature observing engineering inputs for technical accuracy.

  • Coordinate attendance and/or participation of trade shows when relevant to meeting sales and marketing objectives.

  • Review and update departmental job descriptions as required.

  • Review and update Manufacturer s Representative Agreements as required.

  • Participate in all Master Schedule meetings when requested to forestall customer problems with late shipments.

  • May be required to perform other related and unrelated tasks as requested by management.

  • A minimum of 10 years experience in field sales or application engineering. A minimum of 5 years experience in management.

    EDUCATION / TRAINING: A technical, marketing, or business degree from an accredited college or university.

  • Well organized and capable of handling several projects at once.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Superior interpersonal and analytical skills.

  • Careful attention to detail on all projects.

  • Ability to motivate with strong managerial and staff development skills.

  • Knowledge and understanding of engineering and manufacturing capabilities.

  • Knowledge of aerospace and military industries a plus.

  • Strong presentation skills.

  • Proven track record of identifying and developing new markets and customers.
