They re looking for a results-driven, goal oriented individual who can work with all engineering disciplines to develop system and subsystem specifications, interface control documents (ICDs), architectures, operational concepts, risk mitigation strategies, and process-control configuration management tasks. As an R&D Systems Engineer, the strongest candidate will have a clear understanding of mechanical systems, thermal systems, CFD, electrical systems, and embedded systems hardware/software systems development and how each discipline interfaces to the other ones both technically and within schedule requirements.
As an R&D Systems Engineer the individual will also be responsible for overall project schedules, action items, and coordinating/attending technical conferences.
This individual will participate in all phases of technology development including concept development, trade studies, requirements development/analysis/allocation, mechanical system design/analysis, electrical systems design/analysis, software and hardware design/analysis, algorithm/controls design/analysis, systems modeling, risk management, manufacturing, integration, test and documentation.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Support all levels of requirements development, management, and verification
Develop and maintain system and subsystem specifications, use cases, activity diagrams, ICDs, operational flow diagrams, and integration development
Conduct and lead team through documenting trade studies
Support maintenance and troubleshooting activities related to delivered systems
Support end-user documentation
Support development of technical proposals to acquire new contracts
Clear understanding of the engineering process and how to schedule it for multiple inter-disciplinary tasks
Understanding of tracking action items and configuration management for multiple disciplines
