The quality engineer will define, analyze, and develop quality assurance measures, and processes for new and existing products, systems throughout the aerospace business unit. The candidate will provide quality engineering support for operations, Engineering, and will interface with customers on quality issues, will take the lead in root cause, C/A and continual process improvement activities to improve products, processes and quality systems utilizing quality improvement tool kit by applying sound systematic problem solving methodologies.

SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
  • Conducts corrective and preventive actions to reduce scrap.
  • Interface with customers to respond to customer complaints.
  • Manages suppliers performance, issues C/A s, and monitors their closure.
  • Identifies, leads and implements effective process control measures to capture process defects.
  • Acts as an effective team leader to enforce quality discipline, decisions, and practices across the aerospace business unit.
  • Applies sound and systematic problem-solving methodologies to identify, communicate, and to resolve quality issues with suppliers.
  • Develops and maintains Quality Management System, policies, procedures, best practices, key performance indicators, and continuous improvements.
  • Implements and sustains quality systems with emphasis in root cause and C/A.
  • Takes a team approach to lead and to minimize customer complaints.
  • Anticipates, negotiates, and manages conflicts, problems, changing situations, and deadlines.
  • Provides procedural and technical guidance to administer configuration management policies & procedures.

  • REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

    Candidates must have NADCAP certification experience.
    Must have some composites experience.

  • BS degree in Engineering preferably in Mechanical engineering or a related technical field.
  • Practitioner of lean manufacturing and Six Sigma with Black Belt certification is desirable.
  • Minimum (10) years of experience with (4) years in aerospace industry.
  • Quality Engineering certification (CQE) or equivalent body of knowledge in statistics, SPC, geometric Dimensioning/Tolerancing, and sampling.

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams i.e manufacturing and engineering..
    Strong problem solving, and analytical skills utilizing data driven quality tools.
  • Highly organized, computer literate including but not limited to Microsoft Suite.
  • Ability to read blueprints and interpret customer specifications.
  • Knowledge of measurement system analysis, MSA, and utilization of precision measurements tools i.e CMM.
  • Having tenacity and energy to advocate and promote quality principles, while remaining flexible and sensitive to accommodate business needs.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Detailed knowledge of Quality Assurance principles and methodologies.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and functional application of statistical techniques.
  • Experience in leading/ driving Continuous Improvement, and lean initiatives.
  • Previous experience in managing and sustaining internal audits, and plant recertification.
  • Detail oriented individual with high level of analytical ability in problem solving, and finding solutions utilizing an 'out-of-the-box' mindset.
    Proven track record in root cause analysis, and statistical techniques related to problem solving such as cause and effect analysis, fishbone flow, 5 Whys, and good understanding of Six Sigma methodology.
