Mechanical Engineer- Advanced Programs to provide the design and analysis of structural and mechanical systems for our orbital launch vehicle. In support of our client's efforts and as part of our Structures group, we are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to provide the design and analysis of structural and mechanical systems for our orbital launch vehicle. The Mechanical Engineer will develop designs for primary and secondary structures, aerosurfaces, and mechanisms under the direction of the Director of Structures Development. The ideal candidate will be a generalist with current/recent hands-on experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computer Aided Design (CAD). Additionally, an ideal candidate will have a strong background in composite structure design, analysis, and manufacturing, with comfort in a fast paced and flexible environment. This role is for a hands-on person with great attention to detail and excellent people skills.

Responsibilities:
  • Design the vehicle structural elements and configurations in concert with other engineering disciplines.
  • Design of composite structures with attention towards high production manufacturing.
  • Assistance in the development of manufacturing, integration, and test processes and procedures.
  • Launch and mission operations support.

  • Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science or in STEM Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)High school diploma or GED required.
  • Strong expertise in Finite Element Analysis using industry tools such as FEMAP, NASTRAN, and ANSYS.
  • Strong skills in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing drafting skills.
  • Knowledge of the design, analysis, fabrication, and test of composite and metallic structures.

    Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Experience in NX/Teamcenter.
  • Experience in low cost commercial space system ventures.
  • Experience with air launched space launch vehicles.
