Our fast paced client is seeking a manufacturing engineer to support the development and manufacturing of liquid based rocket engines. The ideal candidate will be experienced in the production machine shop environment and the use of mills and lathes to meet tight tolerances for small and large components. Successful candidates will have experience working in fast paced integrated product teams with development engineering, supply chain and quality. Experience with the specification of state of the art machining equipment will be necessary to lead the development of machining as a core competence for volume production.

Responsibilities
The manufacturing/supplier quality engineer will be the team technical expert for machined parts
Provide the GD&T input into the drawings for released components working closely with the design and engineering teams for propulsion and structures
Provide technical expertise into the design of the components to reduce overall component costs
Provide the input for machined part coatings and post processing.
Support the internal machine shop to increase overall equipment effectiveness
Provide the specification, evaluation and implementation of new equipment for the machine shop
Support the machine shop with fixturing requirements and set-up of single piece and multi piece runs
Support the supply chain team in sourcing evaluations and risk assessments
Assist the supply chain team with supplier performance, technical and delivery related issues
Provide alternative materials and processes that will improve cost, delivery and or technical challenges
Write work instructions and routers as necessary for the internal machine shop
Work with the engineering team to develop additive manufacturing into a production process

Engineering degree in aerospace, mechanical or equivalent Minimum of 7 years of increasing responsibility and complexity as a Manufacturing Engineer, Supplier Quality Engineering is required. Must have experience supporting a full-cycle manufacturing machine shop environment Experience in a production machine shop environment Demonstrated experience in new product introductions of machined parts from development to production Experience in the specification, evaluation and implementation of machine shop equipment and in particular CNC lathes and mills Experienced in the qualification of outside vendors for machined parts Experienced with ERP systems and the creation of work instructions Creative problem solver able to work in multi-disciplinary teams Demonstrated experience in DFx techniques to support reduced cost and lean manufacturing Ability to create capacity plans to support departmental budgeting for capital equipment Excellent interpersonal, coaching, and leadership skills Prior experience with programming and operating CNC mills and lathes is required to support teaching and mentoring others Must know how to determine proper tool selection and programming when machining exotic materials at both low and high production rates Experience with the design of jigs and fixtures for use in a lean manufacturing environment. Experience setting up new machining facilities or work cells is required Excellent organizational skills and problem-solving skills Ability to work in both R&D and production rate environments. Preferred Skills and Experience Experience in aerospace/aviation is preferred (will consider automotive, consumer goods, or similar) Relevant experience as a department lead or supervisor would be a plus Familiarity with additive manufacturing techniques and development Experience with new product introductions in aluminum, copper, stainless, titanium and Inconel is highly desired. Exposure to other metal forming processes such as stamping, forging, casting is highly desirable
