Buyer - Planner

The Buyer will effectively enter data in the Oracle system and execute purchase requests for all materials including raw material, goods, consumables, software, COTS, test equipment and other inventory items necessary Ideal candidates will have a work history that demonstrates the ability to operate successfully in a fast paced manufacturing environment that requires exceptional attention to detail. Experience with new product introductions, lean manufacturing, cost and quality optimization along with material flow on the production floor is highly desired.
Identify and input accurate part data in Oracle ERP system.
Perform accurate transactions in the MRP system as required, transact, and purchase materials at the right price/delivery.
Ensure material procurement transactions are done in a timely accurate manner.
Accurately place orders in the MRP System; maintain records of all purchases and ensure orders are placed in compliance with company requirements. Verify all purchases have the appropriate documentation.
Understand and adhere to VG procedures for material handling and storage requirement requirements.
Proactively communicate with suppliers and internal customers.
Actively seek on-time delivery and update internal customer with material on dock due dates and order status.
Verifies purchase requisitions by comparing items requested to master list; clarifying unclear items; recommending alternatives.
Forwards available inventory items by verifying stock; scheduling delivery.
Prepares purchase orders by verifying specifications and price; obtaining recommendations from suppliers for substitute items; obtaining approval from requisitioning department.
Obtains purchased items by forwarding orders to suppliers; monitoring and expediting orders.
Verifies receipt of items by comparing items received to items ordered; resolves shipments in error with suppliers.
Authorizes payment for purchases by forwarding receiving documentation.
Keeps information accessible by sorting and filing documents.
Provides purchasing planning and control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
Accomplishes purchasing and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
Perform duties and tasks as required by the management.
