-Must have recent experience using ANSYS (or Workbench) on Structural Analysis specifically (not fluid analysis). Knowledge of other finite element software such as ABAQUS is beneficial.

-Aerospace or Defense related experience preferred over airframe or aviation experience.

-Experience analyzing composites including classical lamination theory and within ANSYS environment. Experience with filament wound composites is a plus.

-Experience with solid propellants or other viscoelastic materials.

-Recent college grads are okay with at least some ANSYS experience.

-Prefer candidates with stable work histories (are not “ job hoppers” and do not have big resume gaps).

-Master's degree strongly preferred.

The selected candidate will:

  • Assist other analysts and designers engaged with development and production of new and existing solid rocket motors, propulsion system components and secondary structure.
  • Perform structural analyses utilizing class hand-calculation methods and finite element models.
  • Construct and solve static and dynamic finite element models with ANSYS
  • Participate in test planning and execution.
  • Correlate structural models to test results.
  • Interpret analytical results, assess design margins and prepare technical reports.

  • Skills: -Demonstrated experience performing linear, non-linear and structural analyses supporting design, development and production qualification of new or updated products is required.
    -Proficiency using finite element analysis tools such as ANSYS is required.
    -Proficiency using CAD tools including NX strongly desired.
    -Knowledge and experience with aerospace product development efforts is desired.
    -Must have the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
    -Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel and Power Point) is required.
    Education: -BS in Mechanical, Aerospace, Civil Engineering or Engineering Mechanics and at least 5 years of engineering experience with structural analysis or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    -Master's degree is strongly preferred.
